Welcome to Serenity of the Wolves!!!!!

As we walk through life most are unaware of what we cannot see
but mind you they see you and pay attention to all you do.
Dare you to follow them into their world???

Step carefully, if you dare, but follow and learn their ways.
Maybe then you will come to understand them, instead of being afraid.

~Wolf Myths and Legends~

There are many misconceptions are to why wolves do the things they do I hope this will help
bring a little light and understanding into why they do things.

Myth

Wolves are considered "endangered" because of their inability to adapt to their changing environment,
causing their population to dwindle.

Fact:

Wolves are extremely resilient, with a long history of survival throughout North America,
Europe and Asia. In recent certuries, however, folklore, superstition, church doctrine,
even early governmental programs have led to the destruction and near extinction of
wolf populations worldwide. Current programs protecting wolves from unlawful
elimination are also rebuilding positive attitudes towards these magnificent creatures.

.

Myth:

Wolves howl at the moon.

Fact:

Current studies suggest that wolves appear to howl more on moonlit nights because better visibility
prompts more night-time activity...In wildlife of all kinds. So, while the "howling at the moon"
theory may not be accurate, wolves do howl to locate their companions, to keep neighboring wolves
out of their territories and, believe it or not, to just have fun!
Sadly, wolves have also been observed howling over the loss of a partner.

.

Myth:

Wolves raised in captivity are domesticated enough to make good pets.

Fact:

It's true-wolves and dogs are biologically similar. Whether they're Gray wolves or another species,
wolves look a lot like their canine cousins. Yet, dogs have been bred to live humans while
wolves remain unpredictable animals ruled primarily by instinct. Even when wolves and dogs
are interbred, their wolf hybrid pups unusually do NOT make good pets.

.

Myth:

Wolves are more dangerous to humans than are dogs.

Fact:

As man's "best friend" the domestic dog is involved in 3 million or more incidents of injury to humans each year,
resulting in over 20 human deaths annually. Conversely, only a few injuries have ever been attributed
to specific wolves that have lost fear of humans. There are NO reports of human deaths caused wild wolves
in North America. Indeed, these powerful animals are extremely timid around people.

.

Myth:

Like tigers, wolves stalk their prey, then attack from behind.

Fact:

Wolves utilize a hunting method called coursing-chasing their prey, sometimes over long
distances and for extended hours, until they are either successful or outpaced. for all their hard work,
wolves catch their prey in only about two of 10 attempts. Wolves rarely attack from behind.
Instead, they run in front of their prey and grab hold of its nose and throat until it is subdued.

.

Myth:

Wolves prefer to prey on cattle and other domestic herds because they are easier to catch.

Fact:

Historically, only after humans have depleted or eliminated the wolf's natural prey-deer, elk,
bison, beaver and others-and replaced it with domestic livestock, have wolves resorted to preying
on the remaining food source-the livestock. Wolves normally prey on older, weaker, injured and ill
wildlife, helping insure that only stronger, healthier animals will reproduce. Livestock kills are extremely rare.

If you carry wolf medicine, here are some characteristics that sound familiar to you.
You are fiercely loyal -- to friends, family, ideals and principles. There is no compromise for you.
You are very territorial. You protect all that is yours and your family's at any expense.
You are fearless in your protection, but not reckless. You plan your strategy carefully,
and wait for the opportune moment for most powerful effect.
You have a strong family structure.
There is no doubt who the elders, patriarchs and parents are, or about their roles in the family structure.
Disobedience, selfishness and unruly behavior is not tolerated as there are strong boundaries for the young.
They are taught well and carefully so that they may assume leadership roles in their own family structures.
You have an unrelenting sense of adventure. You love to explore new things, to stretch out for new horizons.
You have a thirst for knowledge and for learning new things.
You are eager to share these things, which makes you a natural teacher.
Your adventures may take you away from home and family, but it is
important that you have this base of security to return to.
You have an unrelenting need to be alone.
You are so busy being the protector, the provider, the teacher, and the trailblazer,
that it's very easy for you to become exhausted and burned out.
In order to re-charge your spirit, and keep your balance, it is critical that you have time to be alone
with your thoughts and your own sense of self.
This is one side of your nature that must not be overlooked.
Even if you lock yourself in the bathroom for 15 minutes a day, the time alone must be honored
if you are to have value to those you care for.
Wolf is power. Wolf is honor. Wolf is integrity.
Brother Wolf; Sister Wolf -- I honor you

In truth there is only One person I am aware of that carries the true Wolf medicine within her
and that is the White Wolf otherwise known as Spiritwalker
Most of you don't don't know what I know about her but if you want to know just ask her..
But the White Wolf's Medicine's is strong

There are many institutions that are working very hard at preserving the wolf and returning them to the wild.
There are also havens for abused and abandoned wolves who were at one time pets.
Please check them out and help them make the world safe for the wolves.
